Citi Bank customer John M. of Buffalo, New York, could not believe just how LOW Citi would go in dirty move, stranding loyal customer at the gas pump.
On October 21, 2009, John M. of Buffalo claims Citi Bank stranded him at the gas pumps, forcing his wife to leave work to rescue him.
Apparently, Citi closed gas credit card accounts without warning. “I am p*ssed,” John states. “I’d been a good customer for years, always paying on time and the ba*tards do this to me.”
Unfortunately, John is not alone. On Citi’s website, John found a press release claiming Citi “…decided to close a limited number of oil partner co-branded MasterCard accounts. Those accounts include co-branding tie-ins with Shell, Citgo, ExxonMobil and Phillips 66-Conoco cards.“
Further, John claims the press release states Citi mailed out letters Oct. 19 informing customers of this strange decision, just two days before the accounts were shut down.
Unless newly passed Credit Card Reform legislation goes into effect February 2010, credit card banks can and will continue to bend you over at will, free to jack your rate, cancel your card or even drop your credit limit whenever they please.
Strangely, John adds Citi has not discontinued the sale of these cards, which in many cases offers as much as 3 percent cashback rewards on fuel purchases.
Indeed, these are strange times as big, bad banks (and their bankers) clearly define battle lines: us against them. Make no mistake about it. This has nothing to do with Citi customers paying late or defaulting or anything else possibly explaining (reasonably explaining) why Citi would maliciously strand a good customer at the pump. This is GREED…unadulterated GREED! You and I are the banks’ whipping boys and girls. Even if you think you are immune from getting bent over by a bank, just wait. Your turn is coming and then you will know the anger felt by the rest of us including Ann Minch, the debtors revolvt lady who took on Bank of America.

Citi Bank is just another bank (of many) openly and maliciously turning against even good customers in an unprecedented move certain to affect their bottom line WAY BEYOND this economic meltdown. Some people don’t forget. YES, it’s time for a revolt, not a debtor’s revolt but a consumer’s revolt against banking abuses. A good customer NEVER should be stranded at the gas pumps.
