Phony Debt Collectors Don’t Need Guns To Steal Your Money Reports Better Business Bureau!

by Mike · 0 comments

Phony Debt Collectors, armed with your most personal information, easily can steal your money and throw your life into one horrible tailspin.

The Better Business Bureau issued a national alert about impostors posing as debt collectors, demanding your money or else.

Jose Valdez knows how this scam works.

He got caught in it…for $935.49. I’ll get back to Jose’s nightmare in just a moment. For now, are you aware the BBB has issued a national alert against “debt collectors”?

Stop Debt Collectors

Phony Debt Collectors Match "Real" Debt Collectors' Tricks!

Let me get back to Jose.

He didn’t have a Payday loan as described in the BBB’s alert. In fact, he didn’t even think he had a collection.

Jose was scared to death.

The “debt collector” threatened Jose with imprisonment. This debt collector knew way too much about Jose. Knew where he lived and worked. Knew where his 7-year-old son went to school. Knew his wife worked part-time.

Jose, without the financial means, scraped together $935.49 to avoid getting arrested. His wife and he (naturally) were terrified.

I learned of Jose’s nightmare from one of Jose’s friends…after this all went down. He put me in touch with Jose, who barely speaks English.

I needed a friend of mine to translate as Jose told me about two different “debt collectors,” one describing himself as a supervisor, threatening to have him imprisoned within 48 hours if he didn’t pay what they demanded.

Jose didn’t think to call the police.

Jose thought HE was in the wrong, not the “debt collectors.” At no time did he think he was being scammed. What’s interesting is that Jose had no credit file…no credit.

He had no credit.

He’d never had any credit, yet he paid a PHONY debt collector $935.49.

Widespread harassment from phony debt collectors (should) do more than raise concerns of mass data breach. Everyone should get VERY concerned about debt collectors in general as 88-112 MILLION people find themselves battling bad credit

Debt collectors, phony or real, are out of control, it appears from real people victimized by debt collection abuses and violations. As you can imagine, few people know their rights. Fewer people even know they have rights.  Get used to this type of terrorist threat. It’s easy money for scammers, who roll the dice the person on the other end of the phone will pay up. What would you have done in Jose’s shoes? Would you have called the police? What if the police had told you they are not the jurisdiction for “that kind” of complaint? What then? Please scroll down and tell me about any experience you’ve had with a debt collector. What’s the scariest or intense call with a debt collector you’ve had? I hope you aren’t able to share a horrible experience similar to Jose’s.
